The preparations for the Air Review had
been going on all After absorbing the news of the day before, we made
some phone calls to our contacts at several bases we realizing that
visits to bases in the USA where not possible we were left stranded
in Canada waiting until the moment we could return home and in de
meantime visiting museums and bases that were not under control of
NORAD. We left Bagotville in the direction of Toronto with our small
list off museums and W&R in Canada and the USA. Not one moment in
our planning did we think about only doing museum stuff, so the list
we had was very small. On the way to Toronto we tried our luck at St
Hubert where a visit was no problem so we had some operational
aircraft this day. In contrast to the American’s we spook earlier
they were so less emotional and realistic about the situation in the
USA. After the visit we travelled further in the direction of
Vermont to try out luck at some W&R over there. At the bridge
crossing near Johnstown it became clear that entering the USA was
not going to be possible . After this we booked in to a real old
fashioned motel , the one u see in the films about the fifties even
the interior was from the fifties . The evening was spend in the
local steakhouse and they say portion’s in the states are big well
lumberjack’s also eat big portion’s
