The day started with a
phone call to Trenton to see if our visit was still one, sadly It
wasn’t bud we could probably take pictures from the museum because
it was open and situated at the end of the runway . After doing the
museum and with no flying activity we decided to do some W&R at the
old barracks next to the base, “what a mistake to make”, within a
view moment we were surrounded by police cars. After explaining the
situation we were left to go with a good advice “stay away from the
fence” .
So we continued to Mountain View were our visit was also not a
problem, because we arrived at lunch time we were strangely told to
give ourselves a tour and report back when we were finished, so we
did. Mountain View is the AMARC of the Canadian Air Force the
platforms at the base were filled with CT-114 Tutor’s and recently
retired CT-133 in the row of older ones was a familiar one of the
Kiwi flight from Germany. With the platform covered we went into the
hangers opening them one by one with the set of keys we resaved at
the start of our visit. Every hanger had a different type of
aircraft in it mostly packed close together . One of the hangers had
a group off impounded CH-136 in it, apparently someone tried to do a
deal not completely according to the rules.
Finished and after returning the keys we left in the direction of
Toronto. One of the places we visited on the way was Campbellford
Memorial Military Museum . The museum has a small collection of
aircraft used by the Canadian Air Force.
On the way to Borden we spend the night in a Motel near Lindsay , as
they say you meet Dutch people everywhere and we did , the owners
from the hotel were from the same city as one of us, Tiel. |
