 Valence June 2024

Aerotorshow meeting 2024 at Valence-Chabeuil.

Since 1999, GAMSTAT has organized an aerial event the "Aerotorshow meeting" this year on June 30, Gamstat opened its doors at Valence-Chabeuil airport for the twelfth edition of its air show.

Although being a small air show it was still very enjoyable in showing the types of the Army Light Aviation and an opportunity to see them in “action” during the tactical display.

GAMSTAT

GAMSTAT is the technical and tactical evaluation centre for Army Light Aviation (ALAT) equipment and aircraft.

It is stationed at the Valence-Chabeuil aerodrome. Its history is linked to the rapid development of helicopters from the 1950s and their use in land military operations. Ancestor of GAMSTAT, the experimental section of GH 1 (helicopter group no. 1) was created in 1955 on the Satory plateau (78).

In 1957 it became the Army's light aviation experimentation group (GE ALAT) which joined the Valence Chabeuil aerodrome on September 1, 1967. In 1972 it took the name of the Army Light Aviation Group (GALAT) and finally became in 1987 the aero mobility group of the technical section of the Army. It also has a fleet of helicopters including all types of aircraft in service in the ALAT (Gazelle: Viviane, HOT, canon; Puma; Cougar Rénové; Tigre HAD; NH90 (Caiman)), GAMSTAT also carries out regularly evaluates helicopters under development.

To carry out its mission, GAMSTAT has highly qualified personnel (around 160) and sophisticated equipment.

Thus, test pilots, mechanics and test experimenters, engineers and technicians of all specialties and logisticians, chosen from among qualified officers and non-commissioned officers, form a human resource capable of solving the technical challenges of the third dimension.

Very experienced, these personnel have all served in combat helicopter regiments and have solid operational experience, particularly in external theatres of operations (former Yugoslavia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Africa, Arab-Persian Gulf, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Mali…).
