Spotters day
This year we
visited the base on the spottersday instead of the open day.
The programme
included rehearsal flights performed by the different helicopters in
use by the German defence including the Sikorsky CH-53G Sea Stallion,
Eurocopter EC665 Tiger, Eurocopter EC135 and the NHIndustries NH90 TTH.
Several other rotorcraft flew around the base during their final
training sessions before the Saturday show or moved into their display
positions.
Next to the solo displays a tactical formation was flown. The weather
was not great in the morning, but stil it gave some nice opportunities
for pictures . This year’s show saw not many external participants from
the luftwaffe their where a Airbus A400M Atlas , a Eurofighter EF-2000
and a Panavia Tornado IDS arriving at the spotters day.
Some interesting private aircraft arrived in the form of the Sud
Aviation AS 313B Alouette II and the Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm Bo 105,
as well as a Dornier Do 27A-4 all former German Army.
The spotters day also gave us the opportunity opportunity to view the
collection of historical aircraft preserved at the base , these are
normally not accessible.
It gives a nice overview of the helicopters operated over the years by
the German Army it includes the Piasecki H-21C, Sikorsky H-34A,
Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm Bo 105P1 , Bell UH-1D Iroquois and the Sud
Aviation Alouette II.

Two

Bückeburg-Weinberg
Like many other aviation
enthusiasts we visited the glider field of Bückeburg-Weinberg during
the Tag der Bundeswehr.
This small glider airfield to the southwest of the city was used for
picking up troops who were staging an air assault at the military
airfield.
In recent years this has become more popular with aviation enthusiast ,
it was good to see that as long as everyone was complying to the rules
of the present guards a lot of things where possible in a relaxed
atmosphere.
The location gives some nice opportunities for some nice pictures
during the staging of the mass take offs during the Tag der Bundeswehr
of the rehearsal days in advantage of the Tag der Bundeswehr
.
