Last visit to RAF Coltishall ?,
We went to Coltishall for a last glimpse of a fast disappearing aircraft type, with the forward closing date of operational flying of the RAF end the last flight with the French air force
only a just a few weeks ago.
Expectations where high, with a lot of air forces committing there presence. After arriving at Coltishall it became obvious that
rumoured ex Warsaw Pact nations did not make an appearance.
Another non-show was the Eurofighter Typhoon, as there were no spare wheels available. The only visitors from outside the UK where two Danish F-16. There was a good show of RAF visitors with most of the RAF types present, notable was the 31Sqn Tornado GR.4 with a full fit of the new Brimstone Anti-Armour missiles.
Even with not al the hoped for aircraft turning up, it was a very enjoyable day. With lots of opportunity's to take pictures of the Jaguar. A hanger tour was arranged for everyone, giving
the possibility to photograph everything you wanted.
During the day lots of different shots where taken of the Jaguar even taking shots almost under the taxiing aircraft was possible. Sadly this is going to be one of the last photo-calls at Coltishall, a airfield with great photo
opportunities and nice aircraft.
A big Thank you to Mick Jennings and the Team at Coltishall who worked so hard to create this special event must be made.
