F15 Flygmuseum at
Söderhamn
Recently visited Sweden and made it to a small but very interesting
aircraft museum at Söderhamn in central eastern Sweden (about 3 hrs
north of Stockholm), on the E4 road.
Located in one off the hangars of the former Söderhamn airbase, which used to house
the F15 Hälsinge wing off the Swedish air force.

The museum shows various activities at the
Halsinge Air Base from it's start in 1945 until it was closed down in
1998.
The museum consist of a u hangar with aircraft, weapons and engines from
different periods. In connection with the hangar there are a number of
places showing different activities at F15.
The museum disposes a hangar where the aircraft with belonging
material are exposed. We show typical environments by placing equipment
and groundcrews (dolls) around
This is a small museum is run by volunteers from the F 15 Wing Comrade
Club. While the exhibits are well cared for they are surrounded by all
sorts of related material and artefacts which make photographing the
aircraft inside a photographer's nightmare

The air base area is now called "Flygstaden" and contains a large
number of private companies. The museum has a Saab 37 Viggen simulator
for witch you can make an appointment for a flight.
