Air day 2006 Naval Air Wing 3 "Graf Zeppelin",

After six years, in the weekend of August 27-28 2006, it was once again time for an Air day. The members of the German Naval Air Wing 3 "Graf Zeppelin" based at NATO Naval Air Station Nordholz, organized a air day on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the German Navy.

Next to being the 50th Anniversary of the German Navy, the show was also about the old and the new.
With the P3-C "Orion", the German Navy introduced their most recent acquisition form the Netherlands navy. For the "Breguet Atlantic" airplanes, the Air day 2006 was their advanced farewell presentation. The "Atlantic" aircraft will be decommissioned by the end of 2006.

On the static display where be not only the German aircraft but also some foreign visitors booth military and civil like some Lakenheath F-15's but also a Italian customs ART-42.
In the flight display on Saturday where sadly no P-3 or Br1150, but it was still possible to take some nice shots from the choppers in the program

A visit to the local museum at the base made our visit to Nordholz complete, the base is planning to have the next air day over 5 years.

We would like to thank Tobias Schmidt and the people of MFG-3 for organising the spotters-day at the day before the air show.
