Spottersday at Skrydstrup 05-06-2010,
The Fighter Wing Skrydstrup hosted a Spotters' Day arrangement on
Saturday June 5th 2010.
On
this years air show held at Skrydstrup Air Force Base on Sunday, June 6,
2010. The Royal Danish Air Force celebrated its 60th anniversary.
Danish air shows are not really big air show, but we like theme. Like
every year there was a spotters day the Saturday before the show. And
this year the organizers try to listen to the Danish aircraft
enthusiasts, to see what they could do better and they did. It was very
well organized and there where no barriers in around the aircraft like
in the previous years.
A new airbase gate guard at Skrydstrup is F-16, E-177. It was mounted on
may 18th. Ready for the air show in June. The old F-84G 'SKP' is also
still in position.
Due to the fact that Danish Air force soon will stop flying the old but
sturdy Sikorsky S-61 helicopter, U-279 has been decorated with the 8
legged horse 'Sleipner' from the Nordic Mythologi - also used in the 722
squadron coat of arms. The horse Sleipner is present on both sides and
on starboard side also the text: S-61 - 1965-2010 - 16.600 SAR missions
- 124.000 Flight Hours.
